Benefits
Apoquel® is for the control of pruritus/itching associated with allergic dermatitis and control of atopic dermatitis in dogs.
Apoquel® is a synthetic selective Janus Kinase inhibitor that is targeted therapy that provides dogs with rapid relief of itching without many of the side effects associated with steroids. The inhibition of the Janus Kinase enzyme means the body is less likely to make substances that lead to inflammation and itching. Apoquel® is not a steroid, antihistamine, or an immunosuppressive agent.

Oclacitinib

Side Effects

Side effects may include diarrhea, vomiting, anorexia, polydipsia, dermal lumps or lethargy. Notify your veterinarian if side effects appear and remain troublesome. Other side effects may occur, if you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.

Dogs

Apoquel® should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Apoquel® may be administered with or without food.

Cautions

Apoquel® is not for use in breeding dogs, or pregnant or lactating bitches.

Do not use on dogs less than 12 months of age or dogs with serious infections. Apoquel® may increase susceptibility to infection, including demodicosis, and exacerbate neoplastic conditions. Dogs receiving Apoquel® should be monitored for the development of infections, including demodicosis, and neoplasia. If dog shows signs of infection, difficulty breathing or is listless, or has a fever, contact your veterinarian immediately. If you see abnormal skin changes or growths, contact your veterinarian. The use of Apoquel® has not been evaluated in combination with glucocorticoids, cyclosporine, or other systemic immunosuppressive agents.

Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform VetSource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.
